Let It Easy Special Diet Hunger

KOMPAS.com - The hunger is not always a signal of our body requires energy. Often hungry arise as a signal that we need comfort, which for some people can be met from food.

For people who are trying to lose weight, hunger became its own enemy because if the stomach is not immediately filled the urge to overeat even bigger. To work around this, the nutritionist from the Nutrition Department of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia Dr. Fiastuti Witjaksono, Sp.GK (K) suggest to apply the high-protein diet.

"As well as fiber, protein also has the effect of filling because it has a high thermic effect of energy consumption for the process of changing food we eat," said Dr.. Fiastuti in Jakarta, Tuesday (03/13/2012).

He explained that, in the gastrointestinal tract, the protein will stimulate an increase in hormones and lowers hormone anoreksigenik roksigenik. "Hormones aneroksigenik make poor appetite," he said.

In the dissertation research accomplishments, Fiastuti studied 60 obese women who were divided into three dietary groups. As a result, those who have a diet high in protein tend to be much less hungry so that less calorie intake.

"According to figures nutrition, protein should we consume 15-20 percent of total calories. For those who want to diet could apply much higher number of calories which is about 40 percent," he said.

High-protein diets can be applied by eating high-protein milk, egg white, or fish. "For the sake of simplicity, we take the higher side dishes of carbohydrates," he said.

Added to him, high-protein diet is more effective when combined with fiber. "Do not forget to include fruits and vegetables in the diet," he said.

Even so, Fiastuti suggested that a diet high in protein is applied to only one meal times, for example at breakfast or when we will be late at the office. Thus we are not tempted to snack excessively.

"It is not recommended to perform high-protein diet continuously because we can cause nutritional deficiencies," he concluded.
